Session 3 – Lovingkindness
The practice of lovingkindness is a gift or an offering that we give to ourselves first, then we practice giving to those we love, acquaintances, people that bother or irritate us, and all beings. When we practice offering this gift, we become more accepting of ourselves just as we are in this moment, and this allows us to let go of judgements of others. To live with curiosity, kindness and ease in this ever-changing landscape. This practice is a reminder that all beings want to live with ease.

Qi Gong for Self-Care Series
with Gayla

April 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29
Via Zoom
Qi Gong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is an ancient, low impact, mind-body practice which integrates meditation with movement. “Qi” means “one’s life force or energy.” “Gong” means “cultivation.” This practice is appropriate for people of all ages and levels of wellbeing. This particular form can be done standing or sitting as well as adjusted to one’s own personal fitness. Qi Gong has been shown to produce positive effects on one’s physical, psychosocial and total quality of life! Qi Gong is a selfcare practice that one can add to their healing toolkit to use as often as needed.
This class of Qi Gong has 3 parts:
The Warm Up exercises which are called “The Foundation Practice” consisting of gentle movements and tapping on the body. All the moves are self-care movements considered anti-arthritic, including several healthful movements for healthy hands, beautiful faces, and anti-dementia moves.
The second part is a selection of movements from the “Eight Treasures Qi Gong” which change each week and activate the internal and external flow of Qi energy throughout the body, increasing energy, well-being, flexibility, and homeostasis. These specific movements strengthen the Deep Immune System!
The third part of class is a powerful meditation done sitting on a chair or stool, designed to detoxify and balance the five-organ system. This powerful meditation also addresses and clears blockages caused by emotions.
Gayla has been a student and teacher of this form of Qi Gong for nine years. This form of Qi Gong and Meditation for Cancer Support was uniquely designed for cancer patients and survivors by Dr. Mao Shing Ni, doctor of Chinese medicine, Master Instructor of Qi Healing and Tai Chi, and co-founder of Yo San University in LA and the Tao of Wellness in Santa Monica. Gayla has been a teacher and facilitator in the area of healing arts since 1984. In addition to teaching Qi Gong, she is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, Integrative Counselor of Alternative Therapies, Reiki therapist, NLP practitioner, trained in Mind Based Stress Reduction meditation, and author of Leaving With Love: Eternal Messages from the Heart.
